A more colourful and biodiverse future for HoogTij business park

Bringing business parks into bloom

The future of business parks is here, and it’s increasingly being driven access to green spaces, biodiversity and high-quality work landscapes.

This development comes at a critical time. Research by Werklandschappen van de Toekomst, a Dutch foundation seeking to make business parks more climate-resilient and healthier places to work, has revealed a glaring shortage of green spaces in five out of six business parks. Rethinking how verges, embankments and lawns – typical features of many business parks – are used holds the key to change. Green spaces absorb rainwater and slow down run-off, reduce heat island effects and provide a source of food and habitat to insects and other animals. Integrating them into pre-existing land can therefore transform your corporate sustainability and biodiversity management.

HoogTij in Westzaan is one such business park that has embraced greenery and biodiversity by replanting a large grass bank with flowering bulbs.
Lubbe Lisse worked together with HoogTij to compose the ideal bulb mix for the location and current grounds maintenance. Different varieties now provide continuous colour from February to July, all while offering a food source for honeybees, bumblebees and other wild pollinators.

HoogTij is gradually becoming a more colourful, biodiverse workspace without the need for more intensive grounds management.
