Care and maintenance of plants (fertilizing)

Besides following the instructions for proper planting, it is equally important to pay attention to the care and maintenance of the flower bulbs, or perennials. The proper use of fertilizer is vital to ensuring a lengthy blooming period and minimising the chance of plant diseases.

Organic fertilizer

Add organic fertilizer when planting flower bulbs for the best results in terms of appearance and longevity. When using machine planting, the fertilizer can be inserted under the sod right along with the bulbs. At Lubbe & Sons, we use 100% organic fertilizer. This satisfies all the nutritional requirements bulbs need for many years of successful blooming. To achieve this, we use a small applicator mounted on the front of the planting machine. In addition to fertilizing during planting, it's possible to give bulbs a little boost of nutrition in the spring as well. Then, too, we use organic fertilizer.
